Chris Lane called me the other day. Chris is a great guy...he heads up First Priority for South Florida. He is also chaplain for the Florida Marlins. He’s a nice guy.
He knew a guy who needed this thing that was going to be at this place, so he asked me for a favor. Here is how it turned out...
110+ football players from Plant High School in Tampa showed up Friday night at revolution and in our cafe. They used our student area for a place to eat, talk strategy and hear a great pep talk. Some were HUGE, some were not, but all were pretty polite. It was weird, when they left the only evidence was one cap to a bottle of water on the floor. No pizza sauce, gatorade, nothing. These guys understood control.
They played in Dolphin’s Stadium for the Florida High School State Championship, class 4A. They won pretty convincingly. It was cool to play a very small part in the bigger scheme of them winning the state championship.
It’s a vivid reminder that nothing we do is insignificant, no matter how mundane or minute it may seem to be. Although we loved having them at revolution, we realize it probably wasn't the defining moment for their victory. Many spiritual lessons come to mind in this context. It's always a great reminder that the pressure isn't on us to "save" people. It's our responsibility to share and live what we believe, which is never insignificant.
Congrats Plant High School!!
