My wife and my friends often make fun for things I say. One of those things is, "I'm fulfilling it's destiny." This happens most often when I am in my truck...a big puddle, mound of dirt or sand or whatever is often too tempting not to drive my truck through it or over it. Honestly, it's designed to be on OR off road and it sees plenty of road time, so I figure I'm only completing it's destiny by getting it off road. I think there is something inherent in most men that would agree, if you can get your truck off road, it's going to be a blast. (side note: it's really fun in hurricanes...just mention Hurricane Katrina to JR or Jess Lovins or Berchman Paul. It was a night we won't soon forget. Honestly, if Jen had been in town, this story wouldn't have been written!)
Here's my point. I don't believe my truck really has a destiny, but it's fun to use it for what it was intended to do. It's fun. On the flip side, I believe each of us has a destiny, better yet, a purpose.
It's exciting to see High School students get the mindset that God has a purpose for their lives. This weekend in revolution we baptized three students. We are seeing many students accept Christ and determine to live honestly for him. It's literally exciting to watch and so humbling to be a part of. The truth is, the more we see, the more we realize the vivid reminder that 40000+ (yes, forty thousand) High School students probably live within 20 miles of our church. Truly, the harvest is plentiful. Our work will never be done. We can never rest. We must pursue what we have been called to do. We must move forward, we must show the love of Christ.
It's our purpose to exhibit Jesus on every level of our lives. Let's do it together. Kick in the 4 wheel drive, get muddy and fulfill what we've been called to do!
