Temptation and the Great Barracuda

Jorge and I (with a couple of other friends) spent some time diving this last Friday on our day off. It was a beautiful day. The water is still a bit cold in the low 70's, but the fish are plentiful.

Our first dive was at the reef we refer to as "Nino". (thanks Eladio!) Upon getting on the reef, we shot some fish within a couple of minutes of arrival and sure enough, a barracuda close to 4 feet long showed up. He just hung around. If you have spent any time with barracudas, you know they can be creepy. They will follow you, hang out close by and watch you like you are the turkey on the Thanksgiving dinner table. They enjoy fish that have been shot, whether they are on your spear or floating nearby.

It LITERALLY reminded me on the spot of what Paul says in Romans 7: "Every time i try to do good, evil is right there with me." Seriously, Bible verses come to mind 14 miles offshore and underwater. crazy. We are doing the series, "Warfare: Defeating Temptation" in revolution this month. Temptation affects everyone at some point or another. You don't have to live a life of defeat.

If you swim at a small barracuda, you can scare them away. When it comes to temptation, you can resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4) Don't be intimated by the enormity of your circumstances, press on.
