Snuff the punk

P.O.D. (also known as Payable on Death) is a group of Christians who play some great music as a band. They entitled their first cd "Snuff the Punk". It's pretty good...a bit primitive compared to their current sound, but decent none the less. The artwork on the cd tells the story...you have the authority to defeat Satan.

I digress.

I was reading in Matthew 4 about Satan tempting Jesus. When he wanted to tempt Jesus, he would introduce the idea with a question. "If you are the Son of God"...and he would add a temptation of sorts. Jesus refuted him with Scripture on each account and was victorious.

The truth is...Satan still plays the same games. "If you were really a Christian, would you have done that?" "If God really loved you, would he have let THAT happen to you?" He's casting doubt and he's good at it. "If God really loves you, he won't care if you do this, will he?" Doubt is a killer. It cripples and confuses us spiritually. What's crazy is how subtle it can be, even sometimes mingled with a bit of truth. Since Satan hates anything in God's image, we are the target of choice.

Doubt can kill us in any area of our life. It can affect our relationship with God, others, etc.

We will continue to fight the good fight. It is only through the power of Christ we are able to defeat temptation. We know without a doubt that our weakness is HIS strength, we are truly insufficient in and of ourselves.

I love the idea. Snuff the punk.
