We all make mistakes

Jen and I rode our bikes to Black Point Ocean Grill recently. Upon our arrival at the marina, there was a commotion over at the docks. They were pullling a truck out of the water, the Explorer pictured here. The driver/owner was taking his boat out of the water and made a mistake...in the next few moments his entire truck was underwater. The boat was on the trailer floating and the truck was completely underwater by at least one foot. Ouch.

It only took a moment to change the future of that truck. It's leather seats, electronics and engine were no longer worth much. Whether a slip of the foot or forgetting to set the parking brake, it was over in a short time. As it sat there in the parking lot, water continued to run out from all areas. The owner was still in shock and stood with his head in his hands. Pretty understandable.

You may not have pulled a Titanic with your car, but for sure you have done some things you aren't proud of. I have too. I love what Jesus says about being "pure in heart". (Matthew 5:8) He didn't say we had to "perfect", but be pure in heart. What a beautiful thing.

I'm really enjoying our study on the Beatitudes. I'm learning alot as we move through what Jesus meant to be happy. Jesus' teaching is so counter-culture. Happiness doesn't have to be a mystery.

I hope you are pursuing what it means to be pure in heart. It's a beautiful thing.

And just in case...don't forget to set the emergency brake.
