Our Mississippi team is finishing final preparations to leave tomorrow morning about 5am from CF. We're pretty excited about our trip.
We've had a waiting list for those who signed up late and yesterday Jezebel and I called a girl who's been waiting to let her know she could go. She literally was cheering on the phone and so excited that it was going to work out for her to return to Bay St. Louis. I love that excitement about missions.
Our team will be doing various jobs like hanging sheet rock, roofing, plumbing, a/c, etc. Our students will be working hard to restore hope to many people who are still feeling the devastation from hurricane Katrina. This is our third trip as we partner with First Baptist Church of Bay St. Louis.
Two of the evenings we are there will be spent in local parks. We are hosting "block parties" designed for Middle School and High School students. We're taking our skate park, music, volleyball net and other stuff to set up in two different areas in the city. (yes...we have permits, just in case you are wondering! ) We are partnering with the student ministry of FBC to reach local students for Christ and plug them into the church there.
Pray for us. Pray we'll learn Godly lessons and develop a heart for others as we serve in the name of Jesus. Pray for safety and wisdom as 90 of us hit the road. Pray for the hearts of those people we will come along side of for the next week.
I'll be posting throughout the week here and on our missions site, www.cfmissions.org.
Check it out!
